Our Vision and Values

What is our vision?

Our overarching vision is for every member of the school community at Riseley Church of England Primary School to ‘flourish fully in life and learning’. This means that everyone in our school community needs to work together to ensure that every person meets their full potential but not just academically. As a school community, our vision is to ensure that children and adults flourish socially, emotionally, morally, physically and spiritually in addition to their academic and professional development.

How was this vision formed?

The school has selected the Parable of the Sower. The text is outlined below:

“A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”

As a school community, we are responsible for ensuring that the children have ‘good soil’ within which to flourish. This is so they might fully flourish and become mature individuals that ‘produce a good harvest’ not just whilst they are with us but as they develop and leave the school too. If the conditions are not right, the growth will not take place. In the parable, where seeds fell on ground that did not have good soil, they did not grow. Our aim is to ensure that Riseley Church of England Primary School helps to cultivate the ‘good soil’ our children need to be to fully grow and develop.

Our Aims

In promoting our vision, our aims are to ensure all children will:

  • Be part of a happy school where pupils work hard and learn within a Christian environment.
  • Enjoy their school life as they develop personal confidence and resilience regardless of their academic ability.
  • Develop a respect for other people and their surroundings.
  • Receive teaching of the highest quality.
  • Be given equal opportunities to succeed.
  • Discover a passion for learning, develop creativity and experience success.
  • Have a growing sense of awe and wonder, appreciating the beauty and diversity of the world.
  • Feel safe and secure in class, playgrounds and afterschool activities.
  • Be provided with opportunities to engage with the Church and the community both locally and globally.

Values

As a church school we believe in the importance of a values-led curriculum which puts good relationships and morals at the heart of our school community and continues to underpin the drive to improve standards.  We feel that our strong focus on values supports our calm and purposeful school ethos and this is something our parents and visitors often comment on.

Our school values are:

  • Respect
  • Thankfulness
  • Perseverance
  • Friendship
  • Helpfulness
  • Courage

Each value is a focus for the whole school each half-term.

Additionally, each week, children are recognised for demonstrating any of the Christian Values through a values leaf. These are read out in celebration assembly on a Friday morning. Children who have their names read out stand up in assembly and receive a round of applause from the whole school.
